Lincolnton City Council Candidates Sought by Wednesday

Special Election set for March 21,  Lincolnton water/sewer rate hike                               

Candidates for Lincolnton City Council have Monday through Wednesday to qualify, with a three day window of January 9-11.   Council approved a resolution for a special municipal election for the late Councilman Dwaine Biggerstaff’s seat which will be held on Tuesday, March 21.  Potential candidates must be a registered voter and a city resident for 12 months preceding the election.  The qualifying location will be Lincolnton City Hall 125 N. Peachtree Street 706-359-3239.
Water and sewer rates increased by 2%                                                                                        
Council unanimously renewed a resolution for a 2% increase in water and sewer system rates, to mitigate large cost increases.

The yearly calendar for monthly meetings for the Mayor and City Council with the following dates was approved: January 3, February 7, March 7, April 4, May 2, June 6, July 11, August 1, September 5, October 3, November 7 and December 5th.
In other action, Councilman Henry Brown was selected to serve as mayor pro-tem.
The next meeting of the City Council will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday February 7at City Hall.
