GBI seeks public’s help in murder investigation 

(THOMSON, GA) –  On Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 11:13 p.m., McDuffie County 911 received a call regarding an unconscious man at a home in the 400 block of 2 nd Street in Thomson. McDuffie EMS and Thomson Police responded to the scene and found Ricky L. Huff, 47, of Thomson, unresponsive.
  Huff was taken to Piedmont-McDuffie Hospital where hospital staff found that Huff had been shot. Huff was pronounced dead at the hospital. An autopsy will be performed later at the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Decatur.
  The Thomson Police Department requested the assistance of the GBI Thomson Investigative Office with the investigation. The investigation is active and ongoing.
