Passing in a no-passing zone leads to 2-vehicle crash on Elberton Highway

(FISHING CREEK, GA)  – A crash around 8am this morning on Elberton Highway (GA79) at Fishing Creek demolished two vehicles but only resulted in minor injuries to the occupants, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department accident investigator Sgt. Gene Amos.
According to law enforcement, a Ford Sedan attempted to pass in the uphill no-passing zone southbound when a northbound pickup crested the hill.  The driver of the southbound vehicle attempted to pull back into the southbound lane but lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the pickup, causing the pickup to overturn, coming to rest in the southbound ditch.
Lincoln County EMS and Lincolnton Police also responded to the scene.
