Hamby Wins County Council District 2 GOP Runoff by Five Votes
MCCORMICK — Republican voters in McCormick County on June 23 narrowly selected Bernie Hamby over Judy Boyd in the primary runoff election for County Council District 2, according to unofficial results. Hamby received 226 votes to Boyd’s 221, a margin of five votes.
Countywide, Republican voters favored Attorney General Alan Wilson over Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette in the gubernatorial runoff, 719 votes to 542. In the Republican runoff for attorney general, David Stumbo received 913 votes to Stephen Goldfinch’s 322, while Cody Simpson defeated Danny Ford in the commissioner of agriculture runoff, 633 votes to 571.
A total of 1,278 ballots were cast among 7,731 registered voters, producing a turnout of 16.53%. The results are unofficial pending certification by election officials.
