SCEMD issues weather safety guidance
SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS, HEAVY RAIN, AND FLASH FLOODING POSSIBLE THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING
Residents are urged to stay weather aware as severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, and flash flooding are possible this afternoon through Friday morning. Damaging winds are expected to be the primary threat, though isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out.
Officials encourage everyone to review their severe weather safety plans now and ensure they have multiple ways to receive weather warnings and emergency alerts, especially while sleeping overnight.
If a Tornado Warning is issued:
• Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building.
• Stay away from windows and doors.
• Put as many walls between yourself and the outside as possible.
Preparedness and timely action can save lives. Residents should continue monitoring weather forecasts and be ready to take protective action if warnings are issued.
