A section of U.S. Highway 378/State Route 43 in Lincoln County is scheduled to close beginning Monday, June 22, for a pipe replacement project, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

The closure will affect US 378/SR 43 between State Route 43 Connector/Old Petersburg Road and State Route 220. Georgia DOT maintenance crews will replace a pipe beneath the highway near the Lincolnton Water Treatment Plant.

Weather permitting, the road closure is expected to last no longer than two weeks.

Motorists traveling from State Route 79 toward South Carolina will be detoured from US 378 to SR 43 Connector, then to SR 47, SR 220 and back to US 378.

Drivers traveling from South Carolina toward SR 79 will follow the reverse route, using US 378, SR 220, SR 47 and SR 43 Connector before returning to US 378.

Georgia DOT advised motorists to plan for additional travel time and follow posted detour signs during the closure.

The information was announced by GDOT on its X account, @GDOT East.
