Sunday night shooting in Wilkes leaves 19-year old in hospital
(WASHINGTON, Ga.) —A 19-year-old man remained hospitalized after being shot during a
large gathering late Saturday night in the Meredith Circle area, prompting what local officials
described as a coordinated multi-agency emergency response that began before first responders
ever reached the original scene.
According to an initial incident report from the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were
dispatched at approximately 9:45 p.m. May 17 to the area of Meredith Circle in reference to
shots fired. The incident remained active into shortly after midnight May 18 and was classified
as aggravated assault under Georgia law involving a handgun.
The public copy of the report identifies Ken’yuan Murray of Washington as the victim. Suspect
information was withheld and information for two juvenile witnesses was redacted. The report
