Wilkes County EMS 706-678-7837:
should you have questions that we may be able to answer, we will do our best! (*Do not call this number for an ambulance- those must go through the 911 system on the recorded line)
Hospitals, Doctor’s offices and Urgent Cares are generally overwhelmed all around us. Please use them wisely. We cannot stress enough to only use 911 for true emergencies. We cannot be tied up on non-emergency calls and have true emergencies put on hold. Very few times is emergency intervention or hospital admission necessary! You will NOT be taken into an ER faster or seen sooner just because you call an ambulance. Hospitals use triage systems and you can literally be put in the waiting room to wait for hours if your situation isn’t a true emergency. Please don’t tie up resources that are needed elsewhere.
If you smell natural gas or suspect carbon monoxide and have questions you can call 911 or the Washington Fire Department directly for concerns at 706-678-7113
